Advanced Fire Fighting

Advanced Fire Fighting, as defined by the STCW Convention and IMO Model Course 2.03, is a mandatory training program for seafarers focused on fire safety, fire-fighting organization, and advanced techniques for controlling and extinguishing fires on board ships. It builds upon the foundational knowledge of Basic Fire Fighting and equips personnel with the skills to manage fire emergencies effectively.

ECDIS

This simulator course enables seafarers to get the required knowledge, competence & skill to become a 2nd Officer onboard a Foreign Going (FG) Vessel after clearing MMD Exams. This course, along with other courses, is mandatory for deck cadets aspiring to appear for 2nd Mate FG Examinations at MMDs after completing their sea service. Generic ECDIS course is run as per the guidelines of IMO Model course 1.27 (revised in 2012) and gives the officers knowledge and practice on the operational use of Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) equipment in accordance with the requirements of the STCW convention 78 as amended in 2010.

Medical First Aid

The STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Convention, specifically Table A-VI/4-1, and the IMO (International Maritime Organization) Model Course 1.14 outline the requirements for Medical First Aid training for seafarers. This training equips seafarers to provide immediate and effective first aid in medical emergencies on board ships, before professional medical help arrives.

Proficiency In Survival Craft and Rescue Boats

Officer CoC Examinations at MMD and to be sailing as an Officer. This course is designed and delivered as per the latest STCW Convention

Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations

The aim of this course is to provide training to Masters, Chief Engineer Officers, Chief Mates, Second Engineer Officers and any person with immediate responsibility for loading, discharging, care in transit, or handling of oil cargoes, tank cleaning or any other cargo related operations on an oil tanker. The course meets the requirements of Regulation V/1-1 of the STCW convention and covers the competency requirements as given in the table under section A- V/1-1-2 of the STCW code of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, as amended.

Advanced Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations

The aim of this course is to provide training to Masters, Chief Engineer Officers, Chief Mates, Second Engineer Officers and any person with immediate responsibility for loading, discharging, care in transit, or handling of chemical cargoes, tank cleaning or any other cargo related operation on a chemical tanker. The course meets the requirements of Regulation V/1-1 of the STCW Convention and covers the competence requirements as given in the table under section A- V/1-1-3 of the STCW Code of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, as amended.

Engine Room Simulators – Operational Level – MEO CLASS IV

This course covers the training recommended in the IMO Model Course 2.07 and fulfils the simulator training requirement for Engineering officers at the Operational Level, specified in Table A-III/1 of STCW Code as amended, to provide knowledge and skills related to operation, supervising and monitoring the safe operation and control of ship’s machinery.

Engine Room Simulators -Management Level -MEO CLASS II

This course covers the training recommended in the IMO Model Course 2.07 and fulfils the simulator training requirement for Second Engineer Officers at the Management Level, specified in Table A-III/2 of STCW Code as amended, to provide knowledge and skills related to operation, supervising and monitoring the safe operation and control of ship’s machinery.

GMDSS Course

This simulator course enables an individual to acquire the required knowledge, competence, and skill to operate a GMDSS system used when a ship is in distress for communication and relaying distress messages. This course (including exams) is mandatory for Deck Cadets appearing for their 2nd Mate FG Exams at MMDs. GMDSS (GOC) course covers the mandatory minimum requirement for certification of GMDSS operator as specified in Section A-IV/2 of the STCW 1995 code.

RADAR, ARPA & Navigation Simulator Course

This simulator course enables a seafarer to get the required knowledge, competence & skill to become a Chief Officer onboard a Foreign Going (FG) Vessel after clearing MMD Exams. This course, along with other courses, is mandatory for 2nd Mate CoC Holders aspiring to appear for Chief Mate FG Examinations at MMDs after completing their sea service.

Radar Navigation, Radar Plotting and Use of ARPA – Radar Navigation at Operational Level

Based on IMO Model Course 1.07

A trainee successfully completing this course and meeting the required performance standards will recognise when radar should be in use; will select a suitable mode and range setting for the circumstances; will be able to set the controls for optimal performance; and will be aware of equipment limitations in accurately detecting targets.
The trainee will also be able to choose an appropriate radar presentation mode; select plotting and graphics controls suitable to the circumstances; make appropriate use of operational alarms; acquire and track those targets which may present a potential threat of collision; extract the information needed on course, speed and nearest approach to enable early action (in accordance with COLREGs) to prevent close-quarters situations; and make use of radar to confirm and monitor actions.

The trainee will understand the dangers of over-reliance on the automatic acquisition and tracking of targets and on operational alarms; will also be aware of the performance standards set out in IMO resolutions on radar performances, and factors (including errors from sensor inputs) which may affect the accuracy of received information; and will realise the need to check the accuracy of inputs and the correct functioning of the radar.

Radar, ARPA, Bridge Teamwork and Search and Rescue – Radar Navigation at Management Level

Based on IMO Model Course 1.08

The course is essentially practical and consists of a series of exercises performed on radar simulator with two or more own-ships and a number of others controlled by the instructor. Each exercise will involve observing the movement of ships seen on the radar, recognising those presenting a threat of collision and taking action to avoid collisions. Trainees will act either as master or as an observing officer for the exercises, and will change roles to allow each a turn in command of an own-ship.

This course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency in Table A-II/2 of STCW.
